It's nice when you're asked to paint a scene from your favourite film (full painting on the Commissions page). I started this one in black and white and wrestled with it for a while, but it just wasn't working. As soon as I started adding colour, I could see it coming together and I feel like I really hit my stride. I probably could have painted any given scene from the movie with some success - the cinematography is epic and the whole film is so atmospheric.
It also had me reminiscing about my favourite quotes from the film. I could fill page upon page with them, but instead, here are my top 5 Daniel Plainview buzzwords...
